Fundraising Event for The Hamakua Young Farmers Association

by drake

The Hamakua Young Farmers Association (HYFA) is hosting a two-day Korean Natural Farming Workshop June 12th & 13th. Proceeds will be used to restore the HYFA farm center which is located behind the fire department in Honoka'a. The group plans to use the center to offer agricultural programs to serve Honoka'a and the youth of Honoka'a School.

Korean Natural Farming is a holistic set of horticulture and animal husbandry practices developed over 40 years by Master Cho Han Kyu of South Korea. Master Cho has taught over 18,000 people in over 32 countries. His methods help farmers cut costs, raise production, and at the same time, steward a healthy environment.

The workshop will be led by Dragon’s Eye Learning Center. Workshop participants will learn about Natural Farming systems for plants and animals. Hands on demonstrations will show how to use local resources to cultivate microorganisms and make fertilizers, garden sprays, animal feed, and more.

Donations of $60 are being requested for the two-day event which includes lunch for both days. Workshops will take place at the farm center. For more information and to register on line, visit www.dragonseyecenter.org or call Nathan at 756-3185 or Isis at 854-7837. Space is limited.

Dragon’s Eye Learning Center 501(c)(3) will be leading Natural Farming workshops in Kapoho, Honokaa, and Oahu throughout the summer. Participants will learn about Natural Farming systems for plants and animals.
